Reset the service reminder
COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK4 · SERVICE
Clears the service / inspection reminder after a service.
Applies to
VW Golf Mk4 and Bora/Jetta Mk4. The source's fixed-interval steps are for non-US cars.
Not confirmed for
US-market Mk4 Jetta and GTI (not named by the sources)
Module
17 Instruments (instrument cluster)
Method
Basic settings / reset
1 · Before you start
Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. This is a reset, so there is no coding to copy.
2 · VCDS
Do the service first.
Current VCDS: click [SRI Reset] and follow the prompts. VCDS reads the cluster to see which reset options it has.
Manual method: 17 Instruments > Adaptation - 10 > channel 02 > Read > enter 0 > Test > Save.
LongLife cars only: resetting channel 02 also resets the fixed intervals, so set channels 43 (max distance), 44 (time) and 45 (oil quality) to match the oil used (values on Ross-Tech's page).
What this changes
On LongLife (flexible) cars, the channel 02 reset also resets the fixed intervals. Without the oil-type channels (43/44/45) set correctly, the reminder interval will be wrong.
Notes
uk-mkivs also gives a no-tool method: hold the trip reset ('0.0') button while switching the ignition on, then press the clock button; details differ with or without the multifunction display.
