Unlock all doors on the first press

Button

COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK4 · LOCKS & WINDOWS

One press of unlock opens every door instead of only the driver's door.

Applies to
VW Golf / GTI / Jetta Mk4 (1J/9M), US 2000-2005. Codes differ by comfort module generation (see Notes).

Not confirmed for
1999.5 model year cars, New Beetle, Passat, Audi

Module
46 Central Convenience (power-window cars) or 35 Central Locking (manual-window cars). Comfort Gen 2 (1J0-959-799, before MY2001), Comfort Gen 3 (1C0-959-799, MY2002 on), Central Locking Gen 2 (1C0-962-258-II), Gen 3 (1C0-962-258-III).

Method
Coding

1 · Before you start

Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. Write down the current coding number of 46 Central Convenience (power-window cars) or 35 Central Locking (manual-window cars) so you can put it back.

2 · VCDS

  1. Open 46 Cent. Conv. (or 35 Cent. Locking on manual-window cars) > Coding - 07 and write down the current code.

  2. If the code is even (selective unlock), add 1 and save (e.g. Gen 3 46: 00258 to 00259). Change nothing else.

  3. Don't copy a code from a table unless it matches your module generation and equipment exactly (see notes).

What this changes

The same coding number also stores door count, number of power windows and memory seats. Adding 1 to the car's own code changes only the unlock mode. Typing a code from a table for the wrong generation or equipment replaces those settings. For example, 00258 on a Gen 2 comfort module means '2 power windows + memory seats', not '4 doors / 4 windows'.
