1 · Before you start

Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. In 17 Instruments (instrument cluster), write down or screenshot the current value of every setting before you change it.

2 · VCDS

  1. Open 17 Instruments. If adaptation is refused, use Security Access 13861 (Ross-Tech lists it as 'Adaptation Enabling').

  2. Open Adaptation - 10, channel 003 'Consumption Correction', and read the stored value (standard is 100).

  3. Work out the new value: old value x real consumption / displayed consumption, for L/100 km (Ross-Tech's formula). The range is 85-115 in 1% steps.

  4. Enter the new value, Test, then Save.

Notes

vag-coding.net says the correction also affects the fuel quantity / range shown. For MPG displays the ratio is inverted (displayed / actual); vag-coding.net's examples imply this, but its worked example is partly garbled.
