Horn/flash confirmation when locking/unlocking
COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK5 · LOCKS & WINDOWS
The horn chirps and/or the turn signals flash when you lock or unlock with the remote.
Applies to
VW Golf Mk5 (1K: Golf, Rabbit, GTI, R32), 2006-2009 US / 2004-2009 elsewhere.
Not confirmed for
Jetta Mk5 (option names match, but the byte positions aren't confirmed), 2010 Jetta, Golf Plus, Audi A3 8P
Module
46 Central Convenience (Comfort System). Ross-Tech label file 1K0-959-433-46.lbl.
Method
Long coding + Adaptation
1 · Before you start
Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. Copy the whole long coding string of each module you change, and write down or screenshot each adaptation value before you change it.
2 · VCDS
Preferred if the channels exist: open 46 > Adaptation - 10. Channel 010 sets lock confirmation by remote and channel 007 sets unlock confirmation by remote. Values: 0 = off, 1 = turn signals, 2 = horn, 3 = horn and turn signals. Read the current value first, then save the one you want.
If those channels aren't there, open 46 > Coding - 07 > Long Coding Helper and tick any of: 'Locking Confirmation (Horn) via Remote Control', 'Locking Confirmation (Blink) via Remote Control', 'Unlocking Confirmation (Horn) via Remote Control', 'Unlocking Confirmation (Blink) via Remote Control'. vag-coding.net (Golf 5) shows lock in Byte 11 and unlock in Byte 10, with Bit 2 = blink and Bit 3 = horn. Save.
What this changes
Channels 007/010 each hold a single combined value. Entering 2 (horn) on a car currently set to 1 (flash) turns the flash off; use 3 to keep both. The coding checkboxes do not have this problem.
Notes
Don't confuse these with the key-switch channels (008 unlock and 011 lock by key) on the same module.
