Open/close windows with the key fob

Button

COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK6 · LOCKS & WINDOWS

Holding unlock or lock on the remote opens or closes the windows, and optionally the sunroof.

Applies to
VW Golf / GTI / Golf R Mk6 (5K), 2010 on.

Not confirmed for
Jetta sedan/GLI 2011-2018 (different body module), Jetta SportWagen, Tiguan, Eos, CC

Module
09 Central Electronics (BCM). On the 5K, the old 46 Comfort module is built into 09.. BCM 'PQ35' (Ross-Tech names 5K0 937 086 L and 1K0 937 084 G). VCDS label file 1K0-937-08x-09.clb, seen decoded on vagcode.info for a 5K0 937 086 Q. vag-coding.net also gives a 'pre-2010' method on 46 'Central Conv' (Byte 6), which conflicts with Ross-Tech's statement that 46 is merged into 09 on the 5K.

Method
Long coding

1 · Before you start

Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. Copy the whole long coding string of 09 Central Electronics (BCM). On the 5K, the old 46 Comfort module is built into 09. and keep it somewhere safe.

2 · VCDS

  1. Unlock all doors before connecting. Ross-Tech says the BCM may not respond otherwise.

  2. Select 09 Central Electronics > Coding - 07 > Long Coding Helper.

  3. Byte 3, Bit 5: tick 'Comfort Operation via Remote Control active'.

  4. Optional sunroof: Byte 3 Bit 0 'Comfort Opening for Sliding Roof active' and/or Byte 3 Bit 1 'Comfort Closing for Sliding Roof active'.

  5. Alternative (Ross-Tech's main method): 09 > Adaptation - 10 > Channel 6 > 1 (On) > Save. If the feature switches off after other coding changes, recheck it in the Long Coding Helper.

Notes

SVicksTC: a dealer software update may undo this coding. The label file also has Byte 5 Bit 7, which blocks channel 006 adaptation; no source says to change it. Jetta note: Ross-Tech gives a different label for BCM25/PQ25 Jettas. vagcode.info shows a 2017 Jetta with a 5K0 937 087 AJ 'BCM PQ35' whose labels match the Golf layout, so the BCM fitted, not the model name, decides the layout. Any Jetta needs its own entry. Source coverage: Ross-Tech 5K (Golf/Golf Plus 5K/52/AJ 2010+); vag-coding.net (Golf 6 5K, split pre/after 2010); SVicksTC (Mk6 GTI); vagcode.info (label decode from a 2014 Golf Cabrio's 5K0 937 086 Q, used only as label evidence).
