Coming Home / Leaving Home lights
COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK6 · LIGHTING
The headlights stay on for a while after you switch off and leave (Coming Home), and come on when you unlock (Leaving Home).
Applies to
VW Golf / GTI / Golf R Mk6 (5K), 2010 on.
Not confirmed for
Jetta sedan/GLI 2011-2018 (different body module), Jetta SportWagen, Tiguan, Eos, CC
Module
09 Central Electronics (BCM). BCM PQ35 (5K0 937 08x), label file 1K0-937-08x-09.clb.
Method
Long coding + Adaptation
Requires
Leaving Home: 'Auto' headlight switch and rain/light sensor (RLS).
1 · Before you start
Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. Copy the whole long coding string of each module you change, and write down or screenshot each adaptation value before you change it.
2 · VCDS
Write down the original coding first.
Select 09 Central Electronics > Coding - 07 > Long Coding Helper.
Byte 17, Bit 5: tick 'Coming-Home (CH) active'.
Byte 12, Bit 2 'Coming-Home Mode (0 = automatic / 1 = manual)': untick for automatic, tick for manual.
Byte 12, Bit 0 'Coming-Home Timer (0 = Start with Term.15 OFF / 1 = Start with Door Opening)': choose when the timer starts.
Leaving Home: Byte 17, Bit 6: tick 'Leaving-Home (LH) active'.
Set the light-on time in the cluster menu (SVicksTC: in 10-second steps) or in the BCM adaptation channels that appear afterwards (channel numbers not given by any source).
What this changes
Changing Byte 12 Bit 2 (mode) or Bit 0 (timer) changes how an already-active Coming Home behaves, so record the originals. Don't use vag-coding.net's 'before the end of 2009' variant (untick Byte 23 Bit 5): in the BCM PQ35 label file, Byte 23 Bit 5 is 'Load Management active'. Byte 17 Bit 3 'Coming-Home (CH) via Fog-Lights active' switches Coming Home to the fog lights. It isn't part of this entry.
Notes
Ross-Tech: without the Auto switch and RLS, you may need to pull the high-beam stalk back briefly after switching off to trigger Coming Home.
