Method
Long coding

1 · Before you start

Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. Copy the whole long coding string of 09 Central Electronics (BCM) and keep it somewhere safe.

2 · VCDS

  1. Unlock all doors before connecting.

  2. Select 09 Central Electronics > Coding - 07 > Long Coding Helper.

  3. Byte 16, Bit 1: tick 'Emergency Brake Flashing via Brake Lights active' (flashes the brake lights), and/or

  4. Byte 16, Bit 2: tick 'Emergency Brake Flashing via Turn Signals active' (flashes the turn signals).

What this changes

No light slot is reassigned, but it changes how the existing brake lights and/or turn signals behave in a panic stop (they flash instead of staying steady). Check local lighting laws.

Notes

Ross-Tech: it only activates under panic-stop conditions. The label file also has Byte 27 Bit 5 'Emergency Brake Flashing active with Trailer attached' (not covered by sources). Ross-Tech links a VWVortex thread 'Emergency Brake Feature with LED tails', which couldn't be read. Source coverage: vag-coding.net (Golf 6 5K); SVicksTC (Mk6 GTI); Ross-Tech 5K (label only); vagcode.info label decode (label evidence only).
