Front fog lights as cornering lights

Button

COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK6 · LIGHTING

The front fog on the side you're turning toward comes on at low speed when the headlights are on.

Applies to
VW Golf / GTI / Golf R Mk6 (5K), 2010 on, with factory front fog lights.

Not confirmed for
Jetta sedan/GLI 2011-2018 (different body module), Jetta SportWagen, Tiguan, Eos, CC

Module
09 Central Electronics (BCM). BCM PQ35 (5K0 937 08x), label file 1K0-937-08x-09.clb.

Method
Long coding

Requires
Factory front fog lights (label file Byte 14 Bit 0 'Front Fog Lights installed' ticked).

1 · Before you start

Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. Copy the whole long coding string of 09 Central Electronics (BCM) and keep it somewhere safe.

2 · VCDS

  1. Unlock all doors before connecting.

  2. Select 09 Central Electronics > Coding - 07 > Long Coding Helper.

  3. Byte 14, Bit 7: tick 'Cornering Lights via Front Fog Lights active'.

  4. Optional (vag-coding.net only): Byte 12, Bit 4: tick 'Cornering Light Activation Time limited'.

  5. Don't change Byte 17 Bit 0 ('Adaptive Light/Cornering Light Variant') unless you know the car's lighting variant.

What this changes

Adds a cornering job to the existing front fog light outputs; they still work as fogs. Don't touch Byte 17 Bit 0 'Adaptive Light/Cornering Light Variant (0 = Cornering Light / 1 = Adaptive Light)'. Ross-Tech says it affects this feature, and changing it on cars with factory adaptive headlights would change their cornering/adaptive behaviour.
