XDS strength (Golf GTI Mk6)
COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK6 · DRIVING
Changes how strongly XDS brakes the inside front wheel in corners (medium/default, low, high).
Applies to
VW GTI Mk6 (5K) with factory XDS and MK60EC1 ABS.
Not confirmed for
Jetta GLI, Golf R (not documented), Passat B7 and Tiguan (they use a different channel), Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Eos, CC
Module
03 ABS Brakes. MK60EC1 ABS (vis4vag lists the XDS adaptation under 'Brake electronics MK60 EC1' for Golf/Jetta VI). Ross-Tech lists 5K ABS units as MK60EC1 or MK70M.
Method
Adaptation
Requires
A car with factory XDS (ABS coding Byte 17 Bit 3 already set, per vag-coding.net) and MK60EC1 ABS.
1 · Before you start
Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. In 03 ABS Brakes, write down or screenshot the current value of every setting before you change it.
2 · VCDS
Write down the current value.
Select 03 ABS Brakes > Adaptation - 10.
Channel 36 'Electronic Differential Lock (XDS)'.
Enter 0 = medium (factory default), 1 = low/weak, or 2 = high/strong. Test, then Save.
vis4vag adds: switch the ignition off for a few seconds afterwards (exact time masked).
What this changes
Changes the factory XDS response, a brake/stability system setting. No output is reassigned, but record the original value. Don't turn on XDS coding (ABS Byte 17 Bit 3) on a car that didn't have it from the factory.
Notes
vis4vag warns against changing factory safety settings. SVicksTC lists Brake Assist in the same ABS adaptation menu (not part of this entry).
