Reset the oil service reminder
COMMUNITY-SOURCED · MK7 · SERVICE
Clears the oil change reminder, and the inspection counters if the warning stays on.
Applies to
VW Golf Mk7 (5G/AU), 2013 on (US 2015 on).
Not confirmed for
Golf SportWagen/Alltrack (not named by the source), Jetta (any year), Audi A3/S3 8V, Tiguan and other MQB cars
Module
17 Instruments (instrument cluster)
Method
Adaptation
1 · Before you start
Run a full Auto-Scan and save it. In 17 Instruments (instrument cluster), write down or screenshot the current value of every setting before you change it.
2 · VCDS
Quickest: use the SRI Reset function in VCDS (Ross-Tech says current VCDS versions support it for this cluster)
Manual: Select 17 Instruments > Adaptation - 10 > 'ESI: Resetting ESI' > set to Reset > Do It!
If that does not clear the warning, reset the intervals: set 'FIX: Distance covered since last mileage-dependent inspection' to 0 > Do It!, then 'FIX: Time since last time-dependent inspection' to 0 > Do It!
Turn the key off and on if the warning is still shown
If VCDS says the module is uninitialized, let VCDS write default WSC, Importer and Equipment numbers first ([Yes], then [Do It!])
Notes
Ross-Tech (authoritative for VCDS labels) is the only source read, but all draft values match it exactly.
